How to use our DIY wedding invitations

Do-it-yourself wedding invitations don't get much simplier than this – all of our designs in the wedding invitation gallery can be printed at home and fit on standard A4 paper. Please remember that the quality will vary depending on the capabilities of your printer. Choosing this option is more work but is rewarding and fun. ( If you want us to take care of printing our printing charges are listed here).

The files that we send you are PDF files and are compatable with both Windows and Mac computers. These PDF files are all set up and ready to print - they cannot be changed or modified, so it is important to get your wording right before asking us to design your wedding invitations. The design fee is NZ$45 (incl GST).

Frequently asked questions about our DIY wedding invitations

My home printer cannot print to the page edges. Will this be a problem?
No. Each design fits with in a standard A4 page and is then trimmed down to size.

The thick paper that my printer uses can't be printed on both sides. Will this be a problem?
No. The instructions that come with each design will detail how you can spray glue your invites back to back if need be.

Should I print on paper or card?
It's up to you but we recommend card. Invites printed on paper look cheap. It's worth spending the extra for some high quality photographic card with a weight of around 250gsm or more. HP, Canon, Epson and most other inkjet print manufacturers produce a range of photographic papers suited to this task. Buy using these papers you will be amazed at the quality that your home ink jet can deliver.

The design I choose is black and white but the pictures keep coming out with a colour tinge!
Don't worry - this sometimes happens with home printers. In the printer's dialog box choose the option that specifies to use the black ink only.

I'm trying to print double sided but the invites are not aligned correctly. What's wrong?
You need to specify 'centered' in the print dialogue box so that each design is printed in the middle of the page.

What sized envelopes will I need?
All our invites use standard sized envelopes (that require standard postage) and are readily available in post and stationery shops. None require expensive or unusual sized envelopes.

How do you supply the files?
They are supplied as Acrobat PDF files.

Can my computer read these PDF files?
Yes, PDF files are supported for both Windows and Mac computers.
